![]() ![]() 27 Comments Connecting to MySQL from Python in MacOS is a very problematic and painful process.I can't be the only person in the world to have this problem. A comprehensive installation guide for MySQL and MySQLClient(Python) in MacOS which actually works Copied it from the zipped download, but I don't see where to set it. Someone said to set the socket in my.cnf - I didn't have one. Another says you have to set the valuein php.ini (it set up automatically as /tmp/mysql.sock, but I changed it to /var/mysql/mysql.sock on someone's advice - also made sure the all users had read/write access to the directory). sock isn't created until mysqld runs (which it is, but no. I've read all kinds of things on the internet, nothing seems to help. When I try to connect via terminal it says When I try to start MySql via /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql I get the error 'Error 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)'. Install MySQL Mac When you’re installing MySQL, you’re given a root password, and also CMD+A and CMD+C will copy this password for you to paste. MySql, the Startup, and the Pane all seem to install ok. I installed mysql-5.5. on a refurbed Mac Air. I've looked all over the forum and the internet, and no seems to be able to solve my problem. ![]()
